Winter Bouldering – Get Your Psyche On!

Days seem impossibly short. Nights grow uncomfortably longer. Trees shed their proud, summer plumage, in a gentle acquiescence. A steady flow of down jackets, long-sleeve base-layers & a multitude of brightly coloured knitted hats converge around rocks like monks at a shrine. Winter is upon us.

It seems that here in the UK, the weather gods forgot to deliver us a summer. Now, I could, rather predictably rant on about how bad the conditions have been and how we deserve better. I won’t. Instead, ever the optimist, I look to the future, or rather, the present. The blustery storms of Autumn have vacated. Crisp winter mornings, dry air and perfect temps are upon us. It is time to get y0ur psyche on. It’s time to send!

Whilst you sit at home, desperately doing your best to muster up the energy to head outside and go climbing, we’ve found something to get you inspired.  Consider it a gift from us at RCUK to you. A kick start & stimulation of the senses…to remind you that winter in the UK isn’t so bad. In fact, it’s actually rather good.

Those folks at Louder Than 11 have produced a fine little bouldering video showcasing what’s on offer over at the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The RMNP hosts some on the finest ‘alpine style’ bouldering in the States and potentially the world.

Grab your duvet jackets, fill up a flask, don the base-layers (t-shirt over the top of course), not forgetting knitwear accessories and embrace this winter like a brother!

Enjoy.

It's good to share!
