Top winter climbing tip from Patagonia – The belay parker

Another winter climbing tip, this one a key component to the clothing system: Overlayering, a.k.a. the belay parka. Everyone’s heard of layering, but the standard method can be wildly impractical for the stop-and-go activity of climbing, and so too often people err on the side of warmth (understandably enough), and wear too much insulation from the start – too much? Yes, definitely.

We’ve all been there. You dress for activity so you don’t end up sweating and getting damp and then cold. Trouble is you then end up freezing your nuts off whilst belaying your climbing partner. Check out this elegant solution from Kelly Cordes for the Patagonia blog.

It's good to share!
