New Outward Bound Trust Easter breaks in The Lake District aimed at budding rock climbers
New for 2011 The Outward Bound Trust has launched one week Serious Adventure Rock residential breaks for the forthcoming Easter school holidays. Specifically designed for 14-18 year olds, these seriously action packed fun breaks are a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn to rock climb.
Instructors at The Trust are fully qualified in the MLTE (Mountain Leader Training England) Single Pitch Award and the MIA (Mountain Instructor Award) Multi Pitch Award.
This week will see not only the local mountains and gorges surrounding The Trust’s Ullswater centre in the Lake District being climbed and abseiled all over but will also give participants an amazing zest for scaling up to new heights gaining in confidence and true sense of achievement.
Following essential rock climbing skills and safety tuition youngsters will tackle single and multi-pitch climbs, traverse waterfalls, gorge scramble and a night or two under canvas after a high energy mountain expedition. They’ll take home fantastic memories, pictures and new friends from an epic, high adrenalin week.
The Serious Adventure Rock weeks run from Monday to Friday and costs £349* which includes all food, accommodation, insurance, use of all the specialist climbing equipment and clothing, expert instruction and no surprise extra costs. W/c 11 April and W/c 18 April 2011.
The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity with its own bursary scheme which financially helps up to 50% of young people who attend their courses. *Bursary funding is still available for young adults wishing to take part in Serious Adventure Rock this Easter.

For parents or guardians who are interested in sending young people on an adventure but are worried about the cost, they can apply for financial assistance simply by calling for details or by downloading the financial assistance form on The Trust’s website. This bursary funding is confidential and young people who receive financial support from The Trust are treated no differently from those who have not had financial help.
