Improving your climbing photography – 12 week mini course – week2
I hope you enjoyed part 1 of our climbing photography course last week? This week I’m going to cover a crucial step to developing your mastery of climbing photography…
2: Know your camera controls
Know how to adjust your camera controls without having to think about it. This frees up your attention to focus on creating the image whilst reacting to the changing environment.
Use the camera controls and let the camera help you. Know how to change ISO quickly to compensate for the changing light. Know how to change shooting mode to conserve your memory card.
Aim to be able to do all of this and more without missing any of the action. I wouldn’t like to count the times a climber has taken an unexpected lob whilst I’ve been fiddling with buttons, or I’ve caught my shot but horribly overexposed it because the sun came out.
Stay tuned, next week I’ll be covering the use of creative camera controls.
