Climbing equipment review: Arc’teryx Celeris Jacket
If you’re like me and you’re struggling to take the right jacket out with you because the weather can’t seem to decide what it wants to do, you probably need some sort of wind/shell jacket.
Typical British weather! One minute it’s glorious sunshine, then the next it’s monsoon season. I tend to prefer to carry a very light weight jacket in the summer months because if it rains, it’s usually over very quickly.
For those of you who don’t want a waterproof jacket, but want something to keep the wind and light rain away, the Arc’teryx Celeris Jacket is well worth a look. It is designed to be ultra light weight and compressible, so that you can fit it in your bag without any bulk. The Celeris is wind resistant and water resistant, making it ideal for those days when you’re sitting at the top of the crag belaying your climbing partner. It’s not just the performance fabrics that stand out in the jacket though, Arc’teryx have really delivered excellent technical features as well. The collar has a soft brushed liner to give comfort against your neck and chin, the zip has an internal wind flap to protect you from the element and it has a drop back hem with a drawcord. As soon as you try the Celeris on it feels comfortable and easy to move around in. I love traveling light and the Celeris has a stow pocket that compresses the jacket down to the size of a packet of crisps!
If you fancy your self in one of these, they’re available in 2 colours from welovearcteryx.com:
